YChildCare is a school age child care program for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Administered by the YMCA, YChildCare provides children with safe, nuturing care in a healthy and caring environment after school.YChildCare is full of excitement and challenges for children. Activities center around age, interest, cultural and educational themes and seasonal happenings that vary week to week.
Carefully selected, trained and qualified staff plan each day with creative and developmentally appropriate activities that develop a healthy spirit, mind and body.
The YMCA staff-to-student ratio is approximately one-to-ten. This extended school day program provides a supervised and wholesome environment for children.
When you sign up for YChildCare, your child receives:
- Character Development - learning about the YMCA Core Values of Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility.
- Mentorship - encouragement for each child to develop to their fullest potential
- Scholastic Support - help with homework and daily reading time
- Healthy Lifestyle - fun games and physical activities, hand washing (hygiene) and a daily snack
- Security - a safe and positive learning environment
Parents must sign a contract schedule. After School ChildCare is billed through automatic bank draft. Payment is not based on attendance. The YMCA does not discourage any child from participating because of inability to pay. Financial assistance is available at the YMCA.
YChildCare Registration
To register for after school age child care, you must contact the Youth and Family Program Director at: 239-2812 or childcare@ccymca.net. Download the After School Registration Packet and mail the information to the Youth and Family Program Director at 707 N. Country Fair Drive Champaign, IL 61821. Parents are asked to download and review the parent handbook.

Times: Every full school day directly after school release time, until 6:00 p.m. and scheduled early dismissal days, directly after school release time, until 6:00 p.m.

- Unity East Elementary
- Unity West Elementary
- Heritage Elementary (Homer)
- Salvation Army-Corner of Prospect and Washington, Champaign (primarily seving Unit 4)
Minimum enrollment of 10 children in full time after school child care is necessary for program to be offered.
YChildCare Monthly Fees
- 5 days a week - $180 per month
- 4 days a week - $165 per month
- 3 days a week - $150 per month
